Good morning. Arent Monday's tough? I know I didnt want to get out of bed. But I did, for you! Im going to review Milani's HD and 3D nail lacquers!
What Milani Says:
"New specialty nail lacquer that exhibits a unique 3D Holographic effect that no other nail lacquer has ever achieved. The nail lacquer appears to color-shift as the illumination source or the viewing angle changes. This color phenomenon is based on Holographic Image Technology that makes a very thin, bright, embossed metallic flake look like a rainbow. It allows the color to travel from red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet; seven distinctive colors of the color spectrum."
Disclamer: I decided to use these as topcoats. I know that they look beautiful on their own but I think the magic happens when you layer.
Here is a picture of both bottles:
Lets start with Milani HD (the silver one)
- Well I dont think you can have a Holo collection without a silver! This silver is beautiful and almost a little grey.
- When applying by its self it is very sheer with the first coat. To get the desired color opaque three coats is needed and possibly a fourth. It is not a big deal because it dries super fast.
- The holo you get in this is slightly different from other holos, it looks like pieces of holo glitter but its not glitter because its so smooth.
Milani 3D:
- 3D is a warmer gold than mosts. It is a little too warm for me and perfect for other people.
- It was opaque in 3 thick coats by itself. It actually shines more in sunlight more than artificial light which is good!
About the bottles:
- Many people feel like its a bit dated. I think it is easy to store and fine to the eye.
- The brush is nice and the handle is easy to hold.
- The holographic isnt the same as other lines, this holo is unique to Milani.
- The formula is really great for holos, drying time is fantastic and its so smooth. It was not hard to remove these.
I really liked this collection. I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I love holos so I am a little biased but I feel Milani did what they set out to do with this awesome holo goodness collection. I would recomend HD and 3D and think they are great holo topcoats and pretty colors!
Now for the pictures: (layering)
A comparison of sally hansen prism and milani. The milani shines more but they have a completly different holo effect. Im glad I now have both!

I love this collection. I had to go out and buy all of them. They're so worth it. :) I haven't tried layering them as a top coat. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI can't find Milani's here in canada except for in the "high end" department store which im scared to see the prices of them!
I just got two Milani holos and I can't wait to try them! Hopefully they'll ease my craving for some of the OPI DS polishes on the ChG OMG collection!
ReplyDeleteI love Milani! I post about Milani once too! lol... And that 3D nail polish is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYou have just convinced me to add a little Milani to my makeup collection - loving this review; and these swatches!! :)
ReplyDeleteNice layering!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried milani nail polishes! I should really buy me some! =P
ReplyDeleteI love their polishes! I never tried the holos as a top coat, but it looks great! I definitely will try that now!
ReplyDeleteThey are both gorgeous! Thanks for the review :)
ReplyDeleteI like the silver a lot better than the gold one! But they are both pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like the silver one!
ReplyDeletemy love goes to the silver one :-)
ReplyDeleteI never thought layering these over another polish - I'll have to try that. I scooped up all of the Milani holos a few weeks back. All except for the gold because, like you, I also thought it was too warm for my hands.
ReplyDeletethese are so cool!! do they ship internationally?
ReplyDeleteI don't have any Milani's yet, but I would looove to get my hands on these holo's! Awesomeness!
